Trying something new has always been our forte, so going for an unscheduled pilates session on a Monday morning was quite a worthwhile albeit painful experience.

Somewhere late October, we paid a visit to our friend Cida Morrison who runs “The Pilates Studio Ghana” located here in Labone, Accra.
Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. It emphasises proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance.
Named after its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the 1920s, Pilates is confused with Yoga. Even though they share similar workout regimes, while Yoga is used for improving the flexibility of the body and joints, Pilates focuses on trying to relax yet strengthen tense muscles.

Cida took the whole gang through a thorough workout session that left them breathless yet feeling rejuvenated. In fact, they felt ALIVE!.
